We have knives!
over 6 years ago – Thu, Sep 07, 2017 at 01:01:59 AM

Dearest backers, The knives have arrived in Luxembourg for our EU and international backers and I'm sitting between several hundred sets of super nice Crucial knife sets ready to ship here in Wintrange. For US and Canadian backers, your knives should arrive in our Kamloops office today and will ship out shortly, or can be picked up (please note: I'm not around, so I can't hand them to you personally.) Labels are being printed, boxes are being filled end of the week and beginning next week. And then your knife set(s) is/are on their way to you. Luxembourg backers can pick up knives anytime starting monday next week in Wintrange. If you would like to do that, please message me or email me to schedule a time. Honestly, i'm pretty excited. I've opened a few boxes for quality control. Each set has a slightly different wood marbling, wood grain handles and hand finish. Each one is unique. Once you get your set, you'll see it and would be able to tell them apart from other Crucial knife sets. The wood is gorgeous. I shaved my left arm. They're crazy sharp. I couldn't be happier. Alright, back to printing labels and filling out customs forms to ship these babies to you. I'm super excited. Thank you so much for being awesome. You're all amazing, and seeing all these knives in front of me, I realize that it's all because of YOU. THANK YOU. So. Very. Much. For making it all happen. All the Best, Philippe Schlesser

Clearing Customs
over 6 years ago – Mon, Aug 28, 2017 at 11:52:12 AM

Dear backers, The knives have arrived at Luxembourg Airport for customs clearance, and I should be picking them up as soon as they clear and ship them to our EU and international backers. For anyone interested in picking them up personally in Wintrange, you should be able to do so anytime after this week. I'll send an update just for that. The knife sets for our Canadian and United States backers arrived in Canada and should get to our Kamloops office shortly after clearing customs in Vancouver. Btw, I'm in Luxembourg now, and will ge shipping the knives out asap. You'll get an update once I boxed and labeled them to ship out. We set up small shipping stations to send out everything and are waiting to start boxing. We're very close. The pics are custom boxes ready to be filled in Kamloops.

Thanks again. I'll send an update once I physically have the knives in my hands to ship them to you or hand them over to you personally.

Best regards, Philippe

Cardboard boxes arrived, shipment en route
over 6 years ago – Fri, Aug 11, 2017 at 02:29:35 PM

Dear Backers, Finally, things are moving ahead after long headaches and shipping issues. Since I'll be doing the shipping myself, I needed to reconfigure shipping strategies. Boxes and cardboard have arrived yesterday, the knives are on their way to Luxembourg Airport next week, and will have to clear customs. Local Luxembourg backers will get an update when the knives are ready for pickup in Wintrange, or if they prefer to have them shipped. Local pickups will obviously won't be charged shipping fees. Another shipment is heading straight to our Kamloops, BC office at the same time. From there, I'll start shipping to our Canadian and US backers. I'd also like to note that US backers will not be charged any import duties or tax. If any of you should encounter any charges, please let me know and you'll get a refund of those charges. I hope to post another update in the coming days with a pallet of knives and the first knife set being wrapped and ready to ship out. It's been a tremendously long wait, and I'm really excited to be able to get your knives to you soon. Thank you so much!

Pic: the cardboard boxes and cardboard padding have arrived. I tried to keep away from all poly foam fillers, bubblewrap and stick to cardboard all the way. It's easier to recycle, can be reused and is less annoying when you unwrap it. Even the tape is kraft paper. I also have an assistant helping me box the knives up ;)

Crucial shipping, part 5
almost 7 years ago – Mon, Jul 24, 2017 at 04:03:04 PM

Dearest backers, In my last update, I noted that once the route of manual shipping (doing it ourselves) would be solidified, I'd send an update. That day has arrived. All import/export papers have been concluded. The Canadian shipment, destined to ship out to our USA and Canadian backers should directly arrive at our Canadian office. As for the Luxembourg shipment, we'll have to pick it up at the Customs office, clear customs and ship it to our EU and international backers. That's the update I received from our freight forwarding company on Friday, and I hope to get all of you another update on shipping times and when we'll actually receive the bulk of knives. I hope this answers some of your questions, and I'll post another update as soon as I know. Thank you so much for your ongoing patience! It really means a lot to me, and I apologize for the delays.

Warmest regards, Philippe

We're doing it, ourselves.
almost 7 years ago – Sat, Jul 01, 2017 at 12:38:03 AM

Dearest Backers, It's almost july, and you still don't have your knives. I understand your frustration and getting impatient. We're on the same boat. The knives have been sitting in a warehouse waiting to be picked up... for months by now. Without saying names, every fulfillment company we're tried to hire to send our knives for fulfillment, have let us down, usually due to our 'low' volume. At this point, I'm not worried about shipping costs, I simply want to get the knives to you as soon as possible. (If you know of any fulfillment company that can fulfill 300 global orders, please let us know). We aim to make a quality product in small batches. This may sound like yet another stream of buzz words, but quality really matters to us, and me personally. So we take things in our own hands and will ship them manually with what we have from our office. We'll split the shipment into two loads and import one part to Luxembourg, from where local backers can either pick them up or have them shipped. International non-North American orders will be sent from Luxembourg due to more competitive shipping fees. The other half of the knife shipment will arrive at our Canadian office and we'll label, box and ship them for our USA and Canadian backers. Same thing here goes for local backers who prefer to pick up their knives at our offices. Once this route is solidified, we'll send an update.

I'm deeply sorry for this taking so much longer than anticipated. I hope you understand, and I'm truly thankful for your supporting comments and patience. You're awesome, and I couldn't do all of this without you - so a big Thank You to all of you

Best regards, Philippe Schlesser
